A couple of ideas with 5C collets

I made this 5C collet machinable bush to hold a disc for machining. This led me to make a stop ring to keep the length consistent regardless of the diameter. Later I learned that Hardinge has a similar concept but still, it's worth a mention if you want to make your own.

Why not use an E collet ?

Why not use an E collet ?

I don't have any e collets.
I don't want to buy any e collets.
It's nice to make your own tooling.
These are very simple to make.
They use a vary small amount of virtually any material you have spare.
E collets don't control the depth if there is part diameter variation.
