After going back and forth with a used Bridgeport, issues with moving it and renting equipment to move it, I’ve decided with my space being limited and not wanting to deal with ebay sellers and local ones with nothing but excuses about to pull the trigger on a new precision Matthew’s, cannot exceed 36 inches so in between the 932v and the 833TV
Power is the same except you get more horse with the 833 and an extra inch of travel. Does anyone have any input on these two models? I do one off parts not production.
Will be putting DRO and power feed for the X axis regardless.
Is the 833 really worth the extra 1100$ is the question.
Thanks in advance!

Taiwanese (833) vs Mainland China (932). How much does quality of the machine matter to you? Similar weight - 750 (833TV) and 850 (932). The 833TV motor and drive system are VFD driven, which means that at 50-150 RPM, the gear driven 932 is going to have more "grunt" (torque and power). If lower speed torque is important to you, then the 833T (900 pounds) is going to be a better performer than either the 833TV or the 932. The 833TV will be a lot quieter given the belt-driven drive system. See pages 10-11 in this document and associated video links:

Search the forum archives about the 833TV - lots of commentary.

My PM833 is the worst machine I've ever seen. Maybe get a PM728, people seem to like those. Surface finishes are terrible despite dozens of hours work trying to "save" the PM833:

PM833 trouble

Addendum: after two months I've found that at select speeds the PM833 can achieve reasonable surface finishes (video, pictures below). However, unfortunately this entire experience (PM833 trouble) has soured my view of Precision Matthews.

Nearly transparent surface finishes in acrylic (all surfaces were squared):
