I've seen this for sale for a few months. Don't know enough about lathes yet to form an opinion on this one but I'm interested. Thoughts?

9 inch South Bend Lathe - tools - by owner - sale

I don't know much about the SB9 but isn't that a little high?

A ton of tools to go with it. He will sell it cheaper per some conversation we had last Nov/ Dec.

It looks like it is in decent shape with some good accessories. The price seems a touch steep and there is something wrong with the counter shaft toggle rod (missing?). From the photos it appears that the bed ways had good flaking still. Looks like it has not run in a while.

I see a steady and follow rest, 3 and 4 JC and drill chuck. The rest of his tooling falls into the "nice to have but not used very often" category. If you're like most of us, you'll fall into a QCTP, too.

My point: be cautious about paying for stuff you won't really use.

Don't know what prices are like in your area but that strikes me as high priced, which may explain why it's still for sale after a period of months The chuck next to the livecenter looks like a Jacobs armature chuck which is of little value for normal work, though you might be able to eBay it.

Very nice guys, thx. All excellent points. A PM1030 is my goal so used needs to be a great buy.

That's really high in my estimation.
For comparision I paid $1200 for my 1975 10K which is in like-new condition.
