The original instructions called for a M8x30mm bolt for the z axis nut housing. The bolt is too short and after 9 months mine failed catastrophically shearing off the cast iron boss dropping the head. It did cross my mind when converting to cnc that the bolt seemed a little sort but I guess hindsight is 20/20.

Are you going to rehabilitate the broken casting, or replace it?
Replace it. The worst part is it bent the ballscrew.
