Hi I'm looking for a 5/2.5 HP motor 575 V 3 phase for my lathe.Regent Lathe Motor plate.jpg

very nice,
do you have 575v 3 phase supply in the shop??

sorry to hear the motor trouble,
but it sounds like you are closer to getting it running already.
what kinda lathe are you replacing the motor in???

No Im no closer yet. Nothing on ebay. Ive never heard the lathe running. I was going to just change the motor over to single phase when I started to pick these machines up. But over time decided to bite the bullet and get a rotary phase as the small milling machine I bought was also 3 phase. Then I got a deal on a Drill/Mill which also 3 phase. SO if you start to add up the price of VFD's . especially for a 5HP. I paid $500.00 for the Rotary phase and $150.00 for a transformer to up the 240V to 600V . So for like $700.00 I have 600V 3 phase in my garage. Never thinking about the 2 speed moor being so hard to find if anything went wrong. Getting it rewound isn't cheap!! So still not sure what to do! My Lathe is a Regent. My horizontal milling machine is an Old Harrison. and My Mill/Drill is a King 4012vf I believe. Havent got to try anything yet. The lathe was going to be 1st. And for anyone who may ask. Yes the voltage coming out is exactly 600V on the 2 legs and 613 on the 3rd leg.

Many lathes have 2 speed motors as an additional option, but can also be used with single speed motor, the latter being much more easily sourced. My lathe either comes with a single speed (3Hp) motor or (5Hp) 2 speed, I went with the former. Is a single speed motor an option, a 5Hp 575V motor is much more common and often less expensive then lower volt versions. Example below.
If you have 575/600V 3 phase, VFD's are often a less expensive because of the lower amperage rating, but you need to use an inverter rated motor and motor cable.
