Hello!

I have a Taiwanese 14 1/2 inch swing lathe with 1 5/8 inch from center to top of compound.
I'd like to switch from Aloris CX piston tool post to a 40 position tool post.
I am using mostly 1/2 inch shank tooling, occasionally 3/4 inch shank tooling.

What would you recommend for an appropriate size of 40 position tool post for a machine this size?
The Aloris CX fits, but is a little big.

Is there a particular source or manufacturer you recommend?
I've looked at Create and others.

Thanks very much.

I did some research on one before deciding I wanted to spend the money it would take for all the toolholders on something else. With all the manufacturers I could find, they used an "E" to designate the proper tool post sizing for my PM 1440. The PeWe Tools version seems to be a very popular one. Abom uses one. You could call them to double check.

If I remember correctly, I think HHIP has one, CME tools I believe has one. But, I have no experience with any of them.

Dont go the Chinese route with this style. I have a cheap Chinese wedge style tool holder that is great, so I figured Id give the Multifix style a shot since the price went way down on them.

It works well, but its just too frustrating to use.

Half the first page is useless nonsense, but eventually we get to the point.
