Would anyone have a set of 3D Pantograph plans they would be willing to share? I would like to build one that will accommodate the handpiece of my flex shaft machine.
Check out my post "Custom 1911 grips with personalized medallions" under firearms and accessories. I have a SolidWorks model of the pantograph, and a few detailed drawings, but am still working on the assembly drawing. There have been a few requests for them so as soon as I get it in gear and finish them up I'll let you know. You are welcome to the solid model in the mean time if you like. I think you can get a free viewer from SolidWorks to look at it. You'll need to come up with your own spindle. I just made one up out of parts I had on hand to hold a 1/8" burr, but the pantograph itself will be fully detailed.
Tom, I'd like to have a copy of your model file. That is, is you can save it as an old version. I have 2001 on my main desktop, and 2005 on a laptop. If you could, I'd appreciate it. I can't open newer version files.
Sorry Tony. Mine is version 2011 and there is no option of saving a file as an older version. About all I could do is save it as a step or an iges file.
Can you export as an *.icf file? I believe I can import it and recover it. Not positive, but so I read. That's one thing that turned me off to SW. Each upgrade pretty much kills the use of all previous seats on your license unless you upgrade all of them.
If you go to the Torchmate site they have a pantograph plan that was designed by the founder of the company available. I use Torchmate stuff and have had extremely good resutls with their stuff. My machine was built in 2005 and I have been running a Hyperterm PM 1000 G3 with machine torch and it is a monster. The table size is 4X4 but you can index for longer lengths and 4 foot wide is still pretty big. I have never needed more room, but can upgrade if needed. Just a thought.
