Ycroosh, is an old 250 line quadrature encoder attached 2/1 ratio to a ball screw (.2" per rev) worth anything for positioning?

1000 counts per rev.
x2 = 2000 counts per lead screw rev.
.2inches/rev/2000 counts/rev = .0001 inches/count.
Not bad. Don't like putting encoders on speed increasers. backlash no bueno
runout in gears = cyclical errors in positioning.

Just adequate is my judgement.

The encoder is on the shaft of a servo that is 2/1 timing belt attached to ball screws, so backlash should be minimal.
