had this machine for 4 years or more, been listening to bearing noise all this time and now is the time to finally do something about it. took the bearings out this morning, they are the old New Departure 87504. what are you Delta freaks replacing them with these days? on my grinders I used Japanese bearings.

these 87504's have a protrusion on one side and not on the other. they also have the word "Endee" (end?) on the protruding side. assume the endee is a positioning indicator? also assume the protrusion sides should face the bells? if so, whoever installed them back in the day had one with the endee facing the armature and the other with the endee facing the bell. not sure how they should go. hoping you do!

I think they go towards the armature (rotor)I think that with them both assembled that way it minimizes end play in the end bells. The DP looks like a real cherry! Any holes in the table?

I think I have that exact motor sitting out in the garage .

Well , almost . :)
