13 inch south bend carriage lock question

I was facing a piece of 8 inch steel yesterday and was going to lock the carriage, but could not find a carriage lock. There is a hole on the right side of the saddle close to where the threading dial would be if it had one. Anyone here familiar with the 13 SB and if so, what does the lock look like? TIA

Well the hole is for the bolt, left of the thread dial and I would assume if you were to get an
imprint maybe paper underneath with some flat stock drilled and threaded will work. Really
nothing real special its only a clamp kinda like the one on the tail stock. I know theres a
S.B. site thats got the parts brake down for what it looks like. My SBs are 9As and I presume
this part probably is a little smaller. Or use a mirror and drop light and look under the ways, I
think paper smugged up under with its grease and stuff will be a start for an imprint.

Dont have a 13" SB, but have had 3-4 other sizes and the carriage lock should be similar/identical (as is many other lathes)

That hole thru the saddle is for a simple socket head screw or a bent handle threaded screw that goes thru to attach to a plain piece of flat metal acting as a 'brake shoe' that when the screw/bolt it tightened, the shoe pulls against the bottom of the lathe way and 'locks' it.

Ok thanks guys, I guess I'll have to make one. Thanks for the input.
