I have lateral movement of the “pulley gear and bushing assy, 990-360”. If I move the back gear left the indexing pin won’t reach, and if I move the assy to the back gear the the assy gear is misaligned to the bottom back gear. Should I do anything to correct this?

Thanks

This is a 12" Atlas? Sounds like there is a missing/loose part or fastener
The back gear should be fixed to the spindle with a setscrew+keyway and should not move side to side at all.
The step pulley should rotate freely on the spindle when the back gear pin is pulled but it should not have excessive side play
A picture would help

The collar can be moved to the right to take up the slack.
I don't believe you can adjust the lower gear assembly- AFAIK it's fixed.
Probably you have some wear at the faces of the dual v-belt pulley or the back gear or both

It turns out that the collar on the left was up against the step in the shaft and could not go right. So I shifted everything left against the collar and locked down the back gear. All of the back gears line up. I worked on the indexing pin and got it move to reach the pin holes. Looks like we’re good. Thanks for the comments.
