It's pretty damn difficult to read the etched Imperial scale (since they are printed to one side, facing the operator), but the metric (on top) is just barely readable. Drives me nuts... anybody else? Does anybody have a trick to darken these etched markings? I have a pretty good light directly above the lathe and I've noticed that if I place my hand next to the scale I can sorta bounce light onto it which helps... still a pain tho.
I've seen the projects were people have attached a caliper onto the tail thus making the markings unnecessary, but until I get around to that I'm stuck with the crappy scale. I wish I could rotate the taper attachment to angle the Imperial markings straight up, where they would be easier to read, but that's not possible.
Hmmmm.....
