Hi there,
I got a Versa-Mil #2 with Versa-shaper attachment looking like it was never used, however some storage rust was build-up but not that bad, so some kind of eccentric shaft is missing to drive the shaper attachment, I got a straight shaft used for the 90deg head so I am guessing that it...
I just purchased a 7" South Bend Shaper at a local auction site. I've had my eyes peeled for one for years now, so I'm super stoked to have located such a nice example.
Now the homework begins. A thorough inspection, purchasing correct lube oil, test runs. I'm very excited to give this...
I am in the process of cleaning/restoring my Alba 1A shaper. The machined surface that the table support runs on has seen better days - see the attached pics. I'm referring to the machined surface that the hammer handle is resting on in pic #1. As you will see in pic #2 the left 1/4 has had...
Hey all, I just recently joined the Atlas 7B club! I picked up the machine from a member a few weeks ago. I had to disassemble it somewhat to get it down my basement steps into my workshop. After getting it lifted up and re-mounted to the stand I want to ask you guys for some advice before I...
Hello, I am looking for a metal shaper in the Houston area, but I travel through Dallas and into Southern Oklahoma on a regular basis. I would prefer something that needs work, but is relatively complete.
Thanks,
Montie
I have acquired a old J&E Ledger (ledger engineering) shaper, manufactured in Perth Australia. It's in great shape, just needs a little bit of a cleanup but that's half the fun right. I am chasing any information or if luck is with me a manual for the old girl.
Any information would be greatly...
Short Version:
Does anybody know the specifications for the Atlas 7B shaper pinion gear? The two most critical numbers I need to confirm are the number of teeth(easy) and the pressure angle(old gears, probably 14.5, but not sure).
I believe it is a modified Boston Gear NF15B. It's fairly...
Hello,
Good afternoon !
The planer has arrived and I have already partially disassembled for painting, cleaning and adjustment of the buses as the operation was very heavy.
The engine is of two speeds (dalhander) and was for reform in changing the tips and bearings.
When eBay sent me a notification that there was a VanNorman 22L for sale I noticed the back end of a shaper in the corner of the photo. A search of the sellers store turned up a big shaper with a buy it now for under $1,000 and make an offer button. For some reason it didn't turn up with a...
I have a G&E 16" "Industrial" Shaper that I need to get back into service. Someone cut the electricals from the motor to the shaper, but that will be a different can of worms.
I just dipped out 5+ gallons of what looks like motor oil from the base of the shaper and plan on refilling with diesel...
Here is a YouTube video of Keith Fenner setting up and cutting a 3/4" wide internal keyway on a tapered surface. He made a work support to set the angle and the tool bit holder. There will be another video to finish the setup and cut.
Enjoy,
Mike
I stumbled upon this YouTube video showing a shaper at work. The table remains stationary and the ram travels to make the cut. I've never seen this type of machine, enjoy.
Mike
This is not just a build log, but also a plea for community support! I have little money, and few tools, but I really want my own machine shop. I feel like the first step I should take is to build a self-making metal shaper. The core of the project will rely on the accuracy of a purchased "GNP"...
New guy on the forum here. I didn't see a sub-forum dedicated to shapers or AMMCO, so I hope this is a good place to post.
Last year I bought a nice 7" AMMCO shaper. I cleaned, oiled and mounted it on a stand. It runs beautifully and I've played with it a little, but have not really used it...
I'm finally in the metal shaper club!
i was told by member and good friend Bob Korves about a metal shaper that was available.
it just so happened that i took Richard King's scraping class in 2013 with the guy that was selling the shaper!
go figure- it's a small world.
after a few digital...
I'm interested in one of these. Apparently there are two models, the older with an oval door on the side and the "B" model with a rectangular door. Anybody know the differences and what to look out for? I've heard good things about these machines but have little experience with shapers...
