So I have a PM-932M on order from Precision Matthews. I should say on backorder. I've received the lathe (a PM-1022V) and gotten it up on a bench and ready to go. While the shop is still a mess and its still fairly warm here in Michigan I would like to go ahead and get a stand for the mill...
My PM935TV mill is equipped with an Easson 12B DRO that Matt/OMT installed as part of the package I bought.
In the past several months there have been discussions on the Easson 12B DRO but not too many specifics on their capabilities. I thought I would post a specific glimpse into its bolt...
My collets have been rough going up in the spindle . I looked up in there and the little R8 aligning grub screw is a little bit galled over. I'd like to remove this grub screw but can't figure out how. I removed the quill base but see no way to get at the grub screw. I called Matt earlier this...
While the Z is out in the open, i've found the X and Y axis locking screw handles to be a bit awkward.
I had bought new bolts and had planned to weld wing nuts on the ends but when I removed the x/y lock bolts and unscrewed the handles off of the bolts , I thought the little screws might aid me...
I have a Suburban Fly cutter and their 5" bar . I started getting familiar with it by facing off all my aluminum chill blocks. Roughly 4"x5" one inch thick 6061 blocks . The fly cutter works great but I have to run it in low range in my mill, which is 370 RPM and slow table feed . I can run it...
A short vid , fly cutting jaws of an old vise I found at the scrap yard . The aluminum jaws were kind of chewed up and a few places where cutters cut into the jaws. Welded those over then milled and fly cut them.
No clue what make or model this vise is...was on an old Supermill at the junk yard...
Saw this vise on an old Supermill at the scrapyard I frequent. It was outside, covered in gunk and chips but the handle still turned so I grabbed it for scrap price. Took about an hour to scrape all the encrusted chips and gunk out of it, then about an hour or so with wire brushes and wheels...
I'm new here & I'm liking it here so far so I plan to stick around for a while if you'll have me. I didn't do the introduction thing so I'll consider this post as it. :)
Found this place after I just got a new mill of my own. The only vertical mills I have used are Bridgeports at the local...
