It's a 3/8" square bar bent around a 1" diameter roller pin (H.F. compact bender), then heated ("map-gas" torch) and bent / beaten to get the 90 degree bend, then drilled and tapped 1/4-20 for the hex-socket head screw. So far it has worked great in my Atlas 618 while cutting steel.

So, I believe I have found the lathe for me... right size, condition and several extras, appears to be in great condition by someone who took care of it.. let me know your thoughts and any tips for my first lathe.. $1500, maybe high, but all the extras and condition seems like a reasonable...
