I picked up these two mandrels for $1 each at a antique store here. I`d love to find more of them to complete the set. I can order new from mcmaster for $40 each but they`d likely be the same chinese ones that are all over ebay.

I have 1/2-9/16 and 7/8-1" - I believe i`m missing 9/16-25/32 and 25/32-3/4 and then i`m not sure if the next size is 3/4-7/8 or another two smaller sizes.

Anyway, if anyone has them i`d pay a premium to get them! This is something I will use a whole lot now that i`m working on wheel hubs and bearing retainers, etc.

If you look at the end of the mandrel, on the flat, there should be a number like a "1" for 1/2-9/16", "2" for 9/16-5/8", "3" for 5/8 to 3/4", "4" for 3/4" to 7/8", "5" for 7/8 to 1", "6" for 1" to 1-1/8" and 1-1/8 to 1-1/4" with second collet. They go up to like 2". Ken

Correction on what I said, The no. 2 mandrel is 9/16 to 21/32", not 5/8". And the no. 3 mandrel is from 21/32 to 3/4". Not sure why, that's the way it shows with one of the tool companies literature.

Also don't confuse these with the old K O Lee expanding mandrels, a whole different animal. Which are still available from LeBlond, if you can afford them!

Also remember, these mandrels were originally made to hold cutters on a T & C grinder. Really were not made to use on the lathe. For taking light cuts they are work fine using them on the lathe.
