Am beginning the process of looking for some good Brown Sharpe #9 taper collets similar to what you can find at this link:
I'd be excited for good used collets.
But am also looking for suggestions for the purchase of new ones if that's what I end up needing to do.
These are for an accessory on my Pratt R8 TCG, so I want to limit TIR.

Thanks for any guidance.

Thanks for the link. And that's a good idea.
0.0004 Run-Out is better than the .0008

However, that might be compounded by any run out in a collet.
I've got a BS9 to DA300 (only have one collet for it). DA might not be the best option for run out and holding.

I use B&S 9 in my decrepit old Mill Master.
Had none when I got it.
I ran an ads on VM.org, CL and PM.
Did get 1/2 and 3/4" but that was all.
It seems the people who use them like to hold onto them.
This spring I snagged a bunch of cutters at an auction but couldn't use them as I hadn't the collets.
Finally gave up on used and bought three from Little Machine Shop - 1/4, 3/8 and 5/8".
I think it was ~ $85 with shipping for the three?
No mention of country of origin on them.

How have you been?
I lost my phone and all contacts a while back.
If you still have my # call me some time.
We'll have a chat.

How was the runout on the Little Machine Shop Collets?
Did they hit their marketed TIR?

Next few days are gonna be on the crazy side!!
I'll give you a shout in the in the next few days.
You still at: xxx-xxx-x248?
