working on X and Y lead screws on a Jet 16

I have a Jet 16 Mill Drill mounted on an open angle iron stand. I want to move it to a nicer stand with a chip pan, which will prevent me from getting to the table from underneath. I can access the underside of the mill on the current stand and was wondering if I need to replace the nut before I move it to the new stand. I assume that all of the round column mills are similar in this regard.
