If not are any other mfg compatible or simple modification?

Steady rests are pretty easy to modify the bottom of.
Sometimes you can make a block of aluminum to raise or widen it. Sometimes you can just mill the bottom.
I have no idea what brand lathe my steady rest came off of. The width where it fits on the ways was very close but the height was a bit too tall.
I was able to reshape the bottom to make it fit.
Was a pretty simple job.

Thanks, looks like a simple mod. I was curious if there were ever any other machines made by South bend and rebadged to another name. Or if some other company copied the south bend dimensions for some parts. That would make internet searches a little easier.
