On a South Bend 9" the protecting ring Part #PT370N2. Where does this ring go? On the threads or on the shoulder beyond the thread.I know I am not the sharpist pencil in the drawer but I am at a loss. I see it on the parts list but I can't see where this goes.

If you are talking about the ring behind the chuck look at the pic since the part number is not known to me.
