What Kind Of Vise Do You Use On Your Burke Horizontal Mills?

You could always make a plate to go over your table with a series of drilled and tapped holes to give you more clamping options than the single t-slot.
 
Well, the vise I mentioned above arrived yesterday:

The picture implies that it comes on some sort of base. It doesn't. It's a two piece that clamps to a machine table.

I took it apart to clean it up. The external paint job looks like it was done with a stick dipped in paint.

There were pock marks in the back of the jaw faces.

After cleaning, sanding, oiling, and reassembling, it appears to be an OK item. Better than my Palmgren two part vise.

However, I wouldn't recommend it as a first purchase vise.
 
All good information. Thanks. Piney, that homebuilt you posted is going on my future projects list. It will work perfectly for one project I have in mind for my lathe.
