What is this tool used for?

I cleaned out the old barn last year and found this tool. The previous owner of the property was a truck mechanic. I was cleaning the shop today and saw it again, thought I'd see if anyone knows what it is. It was in the plastic bag under it in the pictures and I've searched those numbers and found nothing. My best guess is that its for removing or installing cylinder liners.

Some type of bearing puller, perhaps special made.
 
Looks like a puller for a Carrier Bearing. New Carrier Bearing Pullers have changed. That one looks pre 75.

It looks like it is used to compress the automatic transmission clutch discs, into the housing, in order to insert the large snap ring.

I believe you may have figured it out. I'll do some web searching and see if I can verify.
