Are you sure the nose doesn't screw off to remove the collet?

Hi Billy
No the nose dose not screw off. the sleeve that slides back forth on the out side just spins around. It's the craziest thing I have ever seen. I
can't figure it out.

If I were to guess, it is a collet closer that mounts on a threaded spindle nose. The groove in the outer ring would accept a bronze yoke that, moved back and forth by a lever, would open and close the collet. There may be parts missing.

The back of the collet shoulr be threaded. If the collet turns with the sleave then the pin is probly broken off.Try to hold the collet and turn the sleave.

ps
If you give up on it let me know what you wan't for it.
