Needing something to measure way wear from a reference, I put together this little indicator holder
that slides in the reference groove on the lathe. I added an adjustable balance weight to make it
easier to use. I'm starting to do some renovation so need to know where to scrape. I decided that
the flat ways were the easiest to start with so started there. The rear part of the flat ways had little
wear so started removing material there. Just using manual methods, I managed to remove about
.006 inch . The indicator is working out well and one can see there is progress being made. Presently
the tail stock end is still needing about .003 removed but I need to wait till my straight edge comes back
from the surface grinder. After I get the flat ways true, then I need to figure out how to rework the
angled ways, hopefully with some sort of grinding wheel set up. View media item 95808

The balance weight was added so the indicator would sit comfortably in the reference groove without
tipping over.
