Guys

What is the vise name for this type of vise?

It has flat jaws that are 2+" wide, smooth type, about 4-5" tall
sets on a short metal stub bolted to the table,
in the jaw up (normal) position,
but can be laid on the side and still uses the metal stud?

They are normally Red in color.
Need to find a couple of them, any suggestions.

Thanks, Close but no cigar,

This vise had a hole on the back half,
so the vise could be laid on it's side,
or run in the upright position,
when put on the metal stub.

What ever way the vise was used,
straight up (normal position) or laid on the side,
this vise would lock up and hold the work.

I remember from the early 60's,
that both the wood shop and metal shops,
had this of vises.

Don

The first thing that came to mind was the Zyliss that I think is now sold as the Z-Vise.

I think this is what you are talking about. I have one just like it. They seem to list several different type names in the title. ---- John

I love my Zyliss. I bought it this year, but it's a 1970s or 1980s model, brand new in box with everything there. Paid $40. Worth every penny and then some, for its appropriate tasks. ee2e80662c8a0e2cb69e26574e6c3057.jpg
