So this new lathe I purchased leaked oil out of the headstock top cover, past the gasket during the break in procedure. I'm wondering if the reason why is because the headstock is not vented, it built up pressure and pushed the oil past the gasket as the point of least resistance? The gear head on my mill is vented. I don't see how oil simply splashing up there could get past the gasket. The cover was screwed down pretty well. I'm tempted to drill a vent hole in the plastic fill cap up top.
