I have a Van Norman #12 and due to some recent personal activity, I won't be able to keep it and restore it as I want to. So I am thinking that I will try eBay. Any thoughts?
Unless you are a dealer with a vast network of carriers (guys, upcoming laws will shrink this network): Sell locally. EBay can only gain exposure to your item. Not bad. BUT a guy in Florida or Mexico City cannot justify shipping. No sense teasing them when so far away. Better to sell locally & perhaps get a chance to have it make parts for you after all!!!
Ebay might help- particularly regionally. Also Craigslist is still a good bet as Van Normans are in demand and some buyers will go 500-1000 miles to buy something, if nothing available locally. For example, I found my VN 12 in Sacramento -500 miles from Seattle. And,talked the price down to pay for shipping.
Do you have an overarm support or VN collets you would sell??
