Tubing bender dies

Has anyone ever tried HDPE or HMWP as roller material for lighter tube where bend forces are lower?

I'm in the middle of building a bender that can handle both flat stock and .065 aluminum tube (various sizes) at longer radii, like several feet. Since I might need several sizes I thought plastic that sleeves over 1" steel axels might be an inexpensive alternative to turning grooved rollers for each tube size out of steel or even aluminum bar stock.
Mine's going to be a light weight version of one I found on Youtube
