Truly a noob question

I've never seen a tailstock that could take a drawbar......

Oops. see you said tailstock. No hole there for that. Drawbars are for where a stout torgueing action is in play, like a boring head on the head end. BUT if you stick something like a hole saw in the tailstock drill chuck, then you would be creating the same situation with a lot of torque. Be aware to not exceed the expected intent of the lathe components.

Me neither, what kind of lathe is that?

Another thing to add, especially TSs without the slot for a tang, when using a drill chuck I always use a hammer to ensure the taper is fully seated. Use a non marring hammer of course if you care about your chuck. I just use a rubber mallet & it's sufficient. Sucks to spin a taper when drilling or tapping.

Not sure about the new "precision" 7X lathes, but when on my era machine the tail stock socket is short. Full length morse tapers will not seat right unless they are shortened. Little Machine Shop sells shorty centers for the Seig lathes. Trying to seat MT drills and reamers, and such often doesn't work unless they are shortened.
