Hello,

Getting closer to the completion of my Index 55 restoration. When tramming the table, I understand how I tilt the head to get it exact. But, tramming the table from front to back - is shimming the head the only way of getting it exact?

Thanks for being patient with me:))

Bodaver32,

I had a look at the pics of your restoration of this machine and a fine job you have done.

To answer your concern , make sure you have taken up any slack that are in the gibs from
your reassemble process. This machine not having a universal table ,meaning its not on a
horizontal rotational axis, doesn't leave for a whole lot of adjustment. If the ways are worn
then that's a whole other animal.
Basically you want to tram your vise to the head. Don't just tram the head to table and call
it good ,once the vise is in place thing can change.
A lot of videos online of how to do this ,it can be frustrating the first few times of doing it,
after a while its piece of cake.
