Tramming a Seig X2D

I have a Seig X2D mini mill which I trammed as the manual instructs. I have recently moved and need to do it again. Is there a better way, rather than putting shim in the base?

I plan on using his method after i finish setting my new mini mill up.

Thank you for the information. That's what I was thinking about doing. It's the same way Uniloy has their blowpin platforms to aid blowpin alignment. I was concerned about it being rigid enough, but then I realised that the cast pads it sits on normally are not much bigger. Thank you for the reassurance
