So i have inherited a bunch of tools from someone who was a machinist. I have no idea what they are but heard they were expensive. How can i find out about these tools? 15864526966063146931180904298270.jpg15864528325047084727342769140838.jpg

Hi and welcome.

What you've pictured are some taps & a screw extractor, a couple of endmills, what looks to be part of a broach, and some super thick feeler gauges?

If you're planning on selling them to pay the rent I'm afraid you'll be disappointed but if you need to tap some holes all you'll need is a tap handle and the right size drill bits.

To answer your question though I'd have to say the best way to find out about them is to get yourself a drillpress and start making stuff, this is a great hobby and you're in the right place to learn more.

Cheers,

John

Wow. Ok thank you. No, not selling to pay rent. Want to sell for help on funeral expenses. I will take to pawn shop cuz there is a bunch. Thank ya'll so much.

My condolences for your loss.

To put this in perspective, I might pay $20 for the whole batch. Yes they are expensive to buy new, but they devalue faster than a used car. That broach is the most expensive item in the batch, but it is missing the bushing, so not much value. Nor is a 5/8 broach very useful for most people.

Thank you Jim. Just another pic of what i have. And there's more.

When I had my shop I used to buy used tools at a surplus place for $3 to $5 dollars a pound.

Maybe one of our members that is local to you would be interested, maybe they'll see this.

Another option is to put an ad on your local Craigslist and see if anyone is interested.
