Uhhg. I have a funny feeling I'm going to spending my winter completely breaking down and cleaning this mill. It is beyond disgusting.
I can't mentally comprehend how someone can allow the sump to fill up to the BRIM with every form of crud known to man kind. The picture shows after I dug out all I could reach, I didn't take a photo of the 25 lbs easily, in the garbage can. I will have to remove the column to reach the rest. I would actually like to be able to use the sump and flood coolant.
I've already taken all of the table apart and cleaned most of it with the exception of the table itself. The xy carriage cleaned up nice.
I went to buy nice light gray tremclad but I forgot it at the paint desk while they shook it. Lol. Got everything else I needed! Forgot the paint. Didn't forget the 5 gallons of varsol and a box of nitrile gloves.
So far I need a bearing from a crank handle and I'll replace the x brass lead screw nut. Pretty worn out. This machine saw a lot of use.
