I have 2 normal 5c Collets and need 1-1/4 - 12 threads machined on the exterior of the collets.

The collets currently has 1.242-20 threads on the top inch of the collet, so if they have to disappear, that is fine.

Can anyone help with this?

Most if not all of the 5C collets I've ever dealt with are harden all over including the threads on the end. They would have to be annealed on the threaded end in order to recut the threads. I would suggest keeping the thread pitch the same and instead of cutting a 1.242 OD thread, make it say 1.200 OD on the thread. Trying to put a 1.250" 12 pitch thread over a 20 pitch thread is really not going to work well if at all. Ken.

Sounds to me the collets need to be tossed and new one's bought to take their place. Or is there more to the story than what was mentioned?

I used to deal with Vescio threading in Santa Fe Springs Ca. They can thread grind something like that in it's hardened form and they can hold it with an ID collet. It shouldn't cost too much.
