Hi all
Well its more of a tailstock diestock holder!

But I was stuck trying to form a 8 BA thread in the lathe and bably needed a tailstock die holder that is on my list of things I must make.

So into the scrap box to find somthing to do the job, and iI came up with a gas fiting that looked promising:

Into the lathe for a few operations.

A flange to keep it straight and a spigot to keep the alignment and we are OK.

The job was done and I have a new tool, Now I have to make 2 more fore my other die holders. :D

Regards BRIAN.

Looks like a handy dandy tool!!
One question: How do you hold the die?
Any pics of that?

Usually the die in inserted into a bored out recess and held by a grub type screw.

Hi Andrew

The die is held in a standard hand die stock, the adaptor locates this acurately on the tailstock chuck,
the last photo shows this ready for use. it stops the die getting out of line, and keeps it square to the job.

You can just push the die stock up gently with the face of the chuck however that only keeps it square to the job,but not in line
with the work. The adaptor eliminates this error.

DOH!!!!:banghead:

Great little tool!!
