Surface Grinder Spindle Oiler Question

Hi all, I aquired a B&S #2 surface grinder. The few times that I've used it, the spindle leaks onto the magnetic chuck. Am I dripping too many drops into the spindle from the oiler at a time, or is there a seal problem. Thx

What does your parts manual say about it? See if the manual indicates any seals in said area? If you do not have the parts manual, the net has many to offer…Good Luck, Dave.

Welcome to the group! I do not have that model surface grinder, so cannot answer your question. There may be others here who know the answer for you. I do know that oil will not hurt your mag chuck, but lack of oil will definitely destroy your spindle bearings. Do you have a manual for the grinder with a specification of how much of what type of oil to add, and how often?

If I recall correctly, there is a leather seal behind the spindle nut.
