Look what I have.
A very well made Stuart 5A ( https://www.stuartmodels.com/item/109/stuart-5a-unmachined )
$1,240 for a casting kit plus shipping.
Forward -reverse about 15" tall.
The piston and cylinder are pristine. I ran it with shop air and seems to be very smooth and quiet.
I have ordered a PM research #5 as my first kit.
I plan on giving it a good cleaning but I am afraid I'll mess up the timing. I don't want to change a thing. The reverse lever works perfect too.
I thought you would appreciate it. I don't know anything about these things.
I got it with some hammers and files for <$50
How can I find out more about it? When was it cast, machined?

On Youtube, Keith Appleton has done a lot of videos on Stuarts Models, including a series on rebuilding a 5A:

HTH,

Oh, cool. This one is not a toy that's for sure.
just for fun, I tried to find one on Ebay = zero

Great score Jeff. That should be a lot of fun to play around with.

Man you deserve a you suck award. That’s a nice size engine there. I would have paid triple that price and still felt like a deal. Rip her down clean it up maybe even a paint job. Nice purchase enjoy.
