I picked up a nice boxed SPV tapping head from a well know auction site, but struggling to identify the required mounting arbor.
This is an SPV SA-0E with collets to take small taps up to 6.5mm 1/4". Most of these appear to have MT1/MT2 taper shanks, but this one looks to take a JT33 taper, but has a captive nut/retainer which is threaded at an odd M27 x 1.25mm pitch. I've had a search through back catalogues, but is anyone familiar with this - I was thinking it might be a CNC mounting or similar? Seems a lot of overkill for small threads like this.
I want to mount this to my R8 mill, but worst case I can always buy a soft arbor and cut the taper and thread.
