I would like to make a small dovetail cutter to hold an indicator. The large section is around 3/16" the small section is about 1/8". How does one going making something this small?

:dunno: Are you wanting to make a dove tale clamp to hold an indicator?

What kind of fixture do you want to make? What kind of indicator, DI or DTI? What axis are you trying to measure, X orY or both? There may be suggestions that may assist you.

This is the dovetail I would like to make but it would be in aluminum.

Dremel has a very small dovetail cutter. I wonder if it could be made to work?

I would make it to fit with a triangular jeweler's file. It would be done before the cutter was installed in the mill or the work mounted...

Bob I am with you. I repair old clocks and frequently hand make the part. With piercing saws and fine files, it would be done in no time.

Here is a DI holder I just made. Idea came from Sherline Tips web site.
