I am impressed with how positively it locks onto the spindle, it's tight enough to turn it.
How did you do that?
Did you make the ID of the clip say 5 thou. under the spindle diameter?

It is as beautiful as it is functional.
Also the photography showed everything very well.

I cut the clamping diameter to size @ 200 degrees so it is smaller at the opening than the diameter. For extra clamping there is a sprung ball grub screw that can be adjusted to increase the force required.
