Hi my my name is tony i just bought a older metal lathe.I have always wonted to learn how.I am 46 with no knowledge so pleas be understanding.I am going to attempt to restore my lathe.I need a face gear and a lot of cleaning on it. so any feedback would be grate.

Congrats on a great lathe purchase. Exactly which gear are you missing?
