Shaper Paint ?

I am at the stage of painting my shaper and have a question. I have noticed a redish color of paint on the inside of the shaper is that some kind of special paint that wont get eat up by the oil in the sump ?

It could be Glyptal, You once saw a lot of the inside of cast gearboxs painted with it. It sealed the casting to stop the oil soaking in and also stopped any loose sand from the casting from floating around. Pretty sur its the same stuff used on the windings of some motors.

Spot on Greg, the in inside of my Sacia 18 inch shaper is almost certainly coated in the stuff.
