I'm in the middle of rebuilding a Centex/Rockwell milling machine. I always like the bare metal parts to shine, and use a wire wheel for that. But I have been wanting a better finish.
Based on recommendations on another forum, I stopped by the local HF and picked this unit up. It was $49.95 less 20% from the ubiquitous magazine coupons. I also got a stick of green compound. there were about 8 choices, this one said it was good for final polishing of all metals, including steel and aluminum.
Once at the shop, I took it out and set it up. It came with two buffing sheels, one loose and one tight-sewn. It was as simple as slipping them on, with fasteners, and tightening. turned it on, charged the looser buff with compound
I grabbed a bezel that goes behind the handwheel dials and tried it out. Wow! in 3 minutes it shines like a mirror!
In a short time I had every exposed metal piece shining like a new dime. Aluminum especially was effortless.
I'll come back and post some pics.
Best money I've spent in quite a while. Highly recommended.
