To some this might be an old trick, but if you haven't heard of it you might give it a go. You can machine rubber parts by cryo-freezing the rubber in the chuck. A simple way for small parts is to turn a can of Blow-off Air Duster upside down and let the liquid come out when you press the button - right onto the work. Freezes the rubber and you can work it pretty accurately. It can take an extra hand. For a 1/8" rubber cord, maybe a little bigger, it works wonders. Made some rubber pressure tips for actuators this spring and they worked great. I didn't get a picture of rubber turning, but the rubber tips went on the 1/8" shaft over a 1/16" post.
