question on potential buy of a 1969 J Variable 36

theres one for sale about 30 miles from me, it's been rebuilt with very little backlash.
He's asking $2500 for it, does that sound rasonable for a ready to use machine?

If you know someone around your area that is familiar with mills even if you pay him it would be good to take him along (unless you're comfortable with your own knowledge) Who rebuilt it, table backlash, head backlash. Can you run it? Sometimes rebuilt means a nice paint job. That wouldn't be a bad price if it truly is REBUILT. Good Luck

I know an old crusty machinist, who can come along.
My father was a machinist with an older then sin SB lathe in the basement that i used, though no mill, so I'm confident in using it
