Question on 1026 Steel

6" OD
.5" wall
4" long

Is this suitable (strength / machinability / weldability) for use as a column riser for a small mill? (4"-5" high w/ welded plates top & bottom)
Mill is a Clausing 8520.

Yes, 1026 is useful for the purpose of a riser. Just about any weldable steel would do

There's so much surface area I think even a mild steel like 1018 would work fine
