Not a problem. Just an idea. I think it would be good to have new forum, under The Main Discussion Section, titled All About Heat Treatment & Ovens.
It's not a high traffic subject so having a specific forum might concentrate future questions and info.

You are right that topics regarding heat treating don't come up very often so they might not warrant their own dedicated forum (IMO there are already way too many forums as it is & too cluttered). But we should have a section for them, I propose we should include them in the Welding & Casting section which doesn't get a lot of traffic either.

Edit: Looks like members have ready been posting threads regarding heat treating & HT ovens in Welding & Casting. I think we should just change/add to the forum title.

Sounds reasonable. How about adding "Heat Treating" to that forum title?

There is a new thread (posted in "Shop Made Tooling") that I would have put in the "Electrical" forum because it's about adding PID control to an oven. I'm just saying an identified location helps interested parties find/follow.

Or a sub forum? As it is right now the only time I see something about heat treating is on the newly posted. This is one of those things I do with just a torch every once in a while but I really pay attention when certain members add the experience with it. Be nice to be able to find it again.

Or a sub forum?
That would work too. But the reason why I didn't suggest that, two actually, is cause again IMO we have way too many forums/sections & sub forums (or fora for those of you ;)). The forum index is very cluttered IMO, I often see members not wanting to scroll all the way down to find the appropiate forum to post in. As a subforum, one would need to select the drop down menu to see it, I feel like some members don't notice the drop down right away as it's easily overlooked.

Other reason (also mentioned above), the Welding & Casting forum doesn't get much traffic & nor do heat treating topics come up much. So combining them (as they techinically already somewhat are) should be ok & posted threads won't get buried quickly. Typically a new dedicated forum/section is created when the topic is popular & are posted quite frequently. But of course there are some forum topics that just need their own.

Welding, casting, & heat treating IMO are close enough to be grouped togther. But this is only my thoughts, ultimately I don't make the final decision. This is just my suggestion & we value all of yours.

For now I'll just leave it until we see the outcome of this. I'll move it if the change happens. Only an admin can edit forum titles & create new ones.

Yup, that is a fact. And it makes it really hard to keep up. I have no solution just curiosity. Whatever you guys decide will be ok.
