Pratt and Whitney Precision Bench Lathe

Nice looking lathe!

Hard to tell scale; is that like a watchmaker's size lathe? What size collets?

It is a 7" swing and overall length is 36". The headstock takes 3C collets. I will get more pictures once I get it cleaned up. They were used by watchmakers and for other high precision parts in industry.

Looks like it’s in great condition. Nice find.

Spent some time getting it cleaned up a bit. After some thought I decided to repaint it. Here is where I am currently at. Looks like, based on the brass tag, it might have come out of the old General Electric factory in Philadelphia. Still need to get some of the other parts cleaned up.

i was going to get that as my first lathe exact one in Philly man you beat me to it i really wanted it that was a great deal

Picked this up this evening. Needs a bit of work, but have always admired these lathes. Heavy little bugger for sure.
======================================================

Looks like someone replaced the headstock drive pulley with a single V pulley. Be nice if you could put a V 3 step pulley on there in place of the single one. Doubt you would find the 3 step flat belt pulley that it once had.

Hear are some photos, that include your machine. ----- John
