This afternoon I was trying to set the head nod on my mill to tilt down 45 degrees. The angle gauge on the side would seem to indicate that it is possible; however, when it hits about 40 degrees, the head makes contact with the casting right above the dovetail that the head slides forward/backward on. The casting is far from precise in this area so I am wondering if this is the result of a crude casting, or if this is how it is supposed to be.

can anyone weigh in with their experience?

I would call PM and ask Matt- It could just be a sloppy casting but you don't want to void your warranty by chopping away at the casting

Mines the same way.

If I want 45°, I have to go left, right or out. Going in, it stops at about 40°. Mine is a PM935ts from around 2016.
