PM833TV alignment question

Dan Thompson, the attached photos show what I did to deal with Y axis tram issues on my mill. You may be surprised by how little force is necessary on the adjustment to impact Y-tram.
That seems like a "band-aid" approach. Not to discount your creativity, but I would be concerned that any movement at all of the mill base would instantly take it out of tram. Again, not knocking it and if it works for you then that is all that is needed.

The base is heavy and tight to the wall behind the machine. After tramming it initially, I've checked it several times and it remains spot on. It may not be elegant but it worked surprisingly well. Given how little force is required to adjust the nod this way, I have to wonder what happens to tram under cutting or quill loads without the top of the column supported.
